Multiple custom appointment forms

(newbie here)

While viewing a calendar, I would like to have one of two custom forms
open depending upon what category the appointment has been assigned. Is
this possible?
 
It would theoretically be possible, but difficult to implement without using a COM add-in or some other application that monitors the folder for new items.

Why not use one form that just looks different depending on the category?
 
Maybe I could just show a different page/tab as each "form". Is there a
way to toggle a tab/page's visibility depending upon the appointment
category?
 
take a look at the Inspector.ShowFormPage and HideFormPage commands.
