Multipe Major VNC Problems

Max

I am trying to control an Windows XP Pro workstation using VNC from a Mac OS
X computer. Both are on the same LAN. The Windows machine was freshly
built and have OfficeXP and Norton antivirus 7.5 corporate edition and is on
the AD domain.
Authentication fails connecting to the XP workstation unless there is a user
logged on even though VNC server is set to run as a service.
Another major problem is blank black screens when logging on to the machine
via VNC even from another Windows machine. The mouse is visible, but no
icons, just empty black space. Posts about this referred to fast user
switching being the problem, but the machine is on the domain so does not
use fast user switching.
The last problem is connecting with VNC and having not being able to type
anything because there is no response from the keyboard. The mouse works,
but typing will not.
I have tried reinstalling VNC and it hasn't helped.

What could be causing these problems?

The mac end is supported in:

microsoft.public.mac.rdc

There are some problems with dual processors in some OS/X versions, I
believe.

The machine is a dual processor G4. Is the problem you're referring
to with VNC or Remote Desktop? So for Microsoft Remote Desktop client
for OS X seems to be working.

Terrific--there were some issues with dual processors with some versions of
RD for the mac, and (perhaps) some OS/X versions. I'm glad it is
working--should be far superior to VNC.

A few people in the past had issues running the MS RDP client on OS-X
dual proc machines... I think they released a new version recently
that may have fixed this problem...
