I am working on a gateway...specs below. i have all the drivers working
properly but when i load the realtek ac'97 audio driver i get the blue
screen of death. I reinstalled the o/s and had to get all the drivers
from gateway because the driver cd was lost. The driver actualy
installs, but at the end of install the system shuts down. I restarted
in safe mode and was able to get it loaded. but when the system reaches
the sign on screen i get the blue screen. the system did have sound
before I reinstalled the os. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

With xp SP2 installed or not....Sp2 puts more security measures on the OS,
the biggest issue with realtek is thier drivers/software are not digitally
signed
thru WHQL..With SP1 you might get by,but with SP2 youre lucky if xp even
tries to install it..Complain to realtek
