Multilingual XP and / or multibooting

I've got the following problem: I have bought a PC in Korea witj XP (Home) in
Korean (Thinking it supports multiple language systems) .

Problem 1
Problem is I can;t install files that have letters with an accent (like the
French accent grave, circonflex or Germen Umlaut). I tried changing the
language settings, but that didn't help (other problems popped up).
So I've come to the conclusion that I can't have files with accented letters
on my Korean XP.
- Question: Is this correct or is there a way?

Problem 2
Then I had the luminous idea to multiboot and put my old ME (English or
Dutch, I forgot) on the pc as 2nd os. But now I read that it's better to
install ME (the older version) first. But I've got XP already on my pc and
tons of files.
- Question: Is there a way to multiboot while keeping my XP on the PC
(installing the older version ME last)

Hi,

Problem #1: Sounds like you have a Korean language version of the OS, so you
probably are going to be limited by that. I would check the character map
(charmap.exe) to be certain that the characters are missing.

Problem#2: This was written for Win98, but the same thing applies for WinME:

About Problem 1: You write that you can't instal files that have
accented letters such as être or sünde. Do you mean files with
such letters inside, or do you mean file names such as sünde.txt?

About Problem 2: Yes, you can install your operating systems
in any order as long as you take certain precautions. A good
starting point would be for you to state exactly how many disks
you have, how many partitions on each disk, what type they
are (FAT/NTFS) and what is currently installed on which partition.

Yhanx for the reply!

Well, the problem is files that have accents in the file name, so it wouild
be sünde.txt that gives me problems.

For problem 2 I'm going to check out suggestion from "Nutcase" Rogers. Thanx
for the link. I'll try it out.
