I am wondering if it is possible to remove an operating system from a
multiboot system. I had windows xp crash on me and when doing a system
restore was plagued with errors. I ended up setting up a multiboot system
with the original windows xp showing up as the default operating system at
startup but not able to start as a file is missing or corrupt. How do I get
rid of the original messed up XP? By the way the secondary Windows XP works
just fine but I always have to select it at startup before the 3 second timer
runs out.

You can edit the boot.ini file (go here for instructions :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022)
You'll find two entries over there, remove the old installation one and
that'll solve your problem. In case you are not sure that which one is
the first entry...please post the information...
 
Mayank's suggestion will remove the dual boot "menu" - however the first XP
installation will still be on the computer - BTW - as an option you can, via
boot.ini, set the second XP as the default.

Did you install the second XP incident in the same partition as the first
installation (Different Windows folder) ? On a separate partition?
 
It's on the same partition. I was thinking the same thing as far as just the
"menu" being removed. I'd like the secondary os to be gone if possible.

C:\Windows and C:\Windows2 is how the two os appear

Each folder contains an OS. Delete whichever one you want,
and delete the boot.ini entry which refers to it, setting the one
you desire as the default in the "default=" line.
