I have 2 drives (C) is my boot drive 4GB, almost full and (D) 30GB, 5GB used.

Can i create another partition on the D drive, and copy my c drive to it.
will the computer recognize that partition as my original C drive and boot
from it?

If not, is it possible, and how?

Thanks in advance.

You can do this with imaging programs such as DriveImage,
PQMagic, Ghost or Acronis TrueImage. Note that you must
copy drive C: to the first partition on drive D:.

You can also do it with xcopy.exe if you have another Win2000
available. After copying your files, you would need to restore
the boot environment on the 30 GByte disk.

Restoring the boot environment involves booting the machine
with your WinXP CD, invoking the Command Console, then
running these commands:

fixmbr
fixboot

And yes, when you disconnect drive C: then the former drive
D: will be visible as drive C:.

You run the restore commands when you have your
final configuration.
