Many times, including now. but it still dosnt work... Is this problem
normal
for those who have vista?

Have you been uninstalling the current version then shutting down the
computer before starting up again and reinstalling Messenger?

A little more detail will be required. Windows Live Messenger is designed to work on Vista.

hey... wen i got my new laptop the same thing happened to me when i
downloaded MSN for the first time. it opened and when you tried to log into
it it just said something like messenger is shutting down or something then
it said there was a problem and windows will try to find a solution... which
it never did... i tried to re-download/install it but the same thing
happened. I then right clicked on MSN messenger icon and clicked on open as
admin. this worked finally!!! maybe you could try the same thing by right
clicking and opening as admin? but iam not sure if Laptops and desktops are
different?

Which version of Messenger is this, is the latest version 8.5 installed?
Older versions tend to be buggy on Vista, you might want to consider
upgrading.
