You're not giving much info to go on.
So what are the symptoms?
What happens when you click the icon?

Have you tried a reinstall... http://imagine-msn.com/messenger/launch/en-GB/

Windows Live Messenger installed and is working without problems here.

No, it isn't. Im running Live! messenger perfectly with windows Vista...
Did you do an upgrade to Vista, or a clean install?

Could need to do a nice clean install (Which is always preferred over
upgrade anyway). I hope you have a burner, start backing up now!

do have any other tips for me?

Take your computer to the vendor and get your money back.
Buy one that the vendor tells you will work.

Vista... Did you initially install it on an empty hard drive, or upgrade
from XP?

I got it from the store, vista was wit the computer. sp i guess it never have
been xp on it...

The only other advice I can give you is to uninstall WLM once more (making sure
that you first click on the Notification Area icon and choosing Exit so that WLM
is not running) , reboot, download it fresh once more (do not run the web
install -- although that is how I installed it without problems) and try once
more to install. You could also right click on the file and select Run as
Administrator. Or, perhaps if you have not tried it, you could try the web
install without downloading.

Sorry, I don't know what is the cause of your problem since WLM installed and
runs without problems for me.

take it back to the store. There is no reason msn should not operate on it.

Take it back, insist they fix it or refund the money since
the machine was of unmerchantisable quality.

In the UK your rights are covered by...
http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/buying-selling/sale-supply/sale-of-good-act/page8600.html

Most European countries have similar consumer protection measures.

Do not accept a replacement product that the vendor tells you
won't do the job you want either.
