MSN running extremely slow

I have two users on my PC. One for me and one for my daughter. She can log
into MSN with no problem, and I can log in from her desktop with no problem.
However, when I try to log in on my own desktop, it takes about 7 minutes for
MSN to open, and then moving around in MSN is excrutiatingly slow. I am
having no problems in Explorer, which is how I have been checking my email
(through Hotmail). I was told by the MSN support guy (via Verizon DSL
support) that there is a problem with my user. I have run anti-spyware
programs and performed a virus scan. The MSN support guy says it might be a
problem with XP. Can someone please help.

Empty your temporary internet file folder C: Drive > Documents and Settings
"Your Username" > Local Settings > Temporary Internet Folder.

Restart in Safe Mode, do a disk clean up and defrag the drive, also click
start > run > type in: "msconfig" without quotes > Startup (tab), uncheck
any unnecessary programs that might be starting up with the system.

Thanks Andre, but I already did the obvious things. This one is a real pill.
I have just spent over an hour with MSN support again, only to be
disconnected from their end. Woe is me!

Already did that.
If MSN works fine on one user account and not the other, then you know
there is nothing wrong with the underlying operating system. Don't
forget that the MSN tech is a bottom-tier person who is just answering
the phone and reading from a script. You need to find out what is wrong
with the one user account where MSN doesn't work. Something is running
that shouldn't be and/or something is set up wrong. The normal
troubleshooting would be to scan for viruses and run various malware
removal tools (not just one) in Safe Mode. You need to run the malware
removal tools in each user account.

If you've already done this, then you are missing something that a tech
will be able to see. Take the machine to a good local professional (not
a BestBuy or CompUSA type of store) and have them vet it for you.
