msn only?????????????

L

Leo

have two computers in my home both running windowsXP,
sharing a dial up ISP. via cat5 crossover cable

Last week the client computer crashed and had to be
formatted and XP reinstalled.

When trying to setup the ICS, IE will not open any web
page except for msn.com. You can do anything you want as
long as its on msn.com itself, no links outside.

I have been thru all the diagnostics, in the IE
diagnostic check, it claims it cannot ping the default
gateway, however when I ping manually via the cmd I have
no problems
pinging any address.

When trying to open a web page other than msn, IE states
that it is opening the page but hangs, never times out,
but just continues to try to open.

I have verified all the tcp/ip Protocols, and have no
problems with the host computer only the client and only
since reistallation of XP.

I have also downloaded a critical patch from Microsoft
that is to address issues of not being able to establish
a network after reinstallation.

The thing is, the LAN is showing to be connected and
running fine from the client computer, it also shows to
be connected to the internet via the host computer.

I am at my wits end and need some help.

Thanks.
