When I have installed the new Messenger (6.1) on my Windows XP PC, everytime
I log onto the internet, I keep getting a message telling me that I have
been logged out as I have been signed on somewhere else. I keep getting this
error and have reinstalled and even got a new Passport ID but it keeps
happening. Any help would be appreciated as it is driving me up the wall !!

Cheers,
David.

Do you have another .NET Passport account logging on automatically when you
boot (Welcome Screen>New Mail)?

Compliments of Kelly:

Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count

Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)

To remove an account or to change the count manually Got to:
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

Do you have two computers?
If you do then the other computer is logged in.
