MS's server is
msnews.microsoft.com

The newsgroup for Windows Messenger is
microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger

The newsgroup for MSN Messenger is
microsoft.public.msn.messenger

Posting to the correct newsgroup ensures you get help from the experts there

Danny,

This is the Public Windows XP Messenger newsgroup... MSN Messenger is Microsoft Messenger
software that runs on XP and fits the newsgroup name.

you sure you don't want to revise your response?

if WM and MSN messenger are the same, why have 2 different newsgroups?

privately (not sure whether you are aware), many are discussing about the choice
of names of applications by MS;
one example that stand out is MS Outlook and Outlook Express. Despite responds
to users, many still post OE problems to OL ngs and the volunteers (I suspect,
getting frustrated including meself) always try to request them to post to the
OE ngs where the experts hang out. Many are not aware that OE is part of IE. I
view ngs as part of education relating to computing but sometimes it get so
......................................................................

Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger are 2 different animals, just like IE/MSN
explorer unless you tell me that I am wrong
