MSN Gaming Zone

I would like to know from MS how to remove the folder named MSN Gaming Zone
from all my computers.
I have noticed how anyone related to MS runs and hides when this question is
asked. I have talked and emailed tech support and they always pass the buck.
They claim it is essential to the OS but as has been stated it is possible to
delete items critical to the OS but not MSN Gaming zone.
If you think about it a worm, virus, trojan horse, adware, spyware etc are
simple programs then get on to you machine and do things you don't want but
at least you can get them removed with software. I think that MSN Gaming Zone
is in the same category the only difference is that this software has a MS
name. I would bet that if Acme had put its ACME gaming zone on your computer
MS would find a way to get rid of it. Simply put MS wants it there, its not
essential and disabling file protection does not get rid of it.
Come on MS, buy so good PR. Tell all of us that want to get rid of MSN
Gaming zone how to do it. Make a bug fix if necessary or tweak software. MS
is in desperate need of some good PR so tell us how. I for one would lighten
up on MS if they gave me back control of what they install on my computers

This is a peer support newsgroup. You won't get an official answer from
MS here. I don't know the answer to your question.

This folder seems to be part of the Internet based games that Microsoft
delivers with XP. Internet Backgammon, Checkers, Hearts, Reversi and Spades
all seem to require these files and these "games" are considered to be
"system files".

So if he removes the games from the windows components in Add/Remove
Programs, he can get rid of that folder?

No. I have removed all the games. The msn gaming zone folder is empty
except for the windows folder.

%programfiles%\msn gaming zone or C:\Program Files\msn gaming zone is a
Protected System folder. It cannot be deleted. Try to delete it and you'll
see this...

---------------------------
Error Deleting File or Folder
---------------------------
Cannot delete windows: It is being used by another person or program.

Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.
---------------------------
OK

windows in the message refers to %programfiles%\msn gaming zone\windows

I killed explorer.exe, opened a command prompt and...

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

C:\Documents and Settings\Wesley P. Vogel>cd %programfiles%

C:\Program Files>rd /s /q msn gaming zone
