Can't Eliminate MSN Gaming Zone

In the process of clearing some space on C: for installation of SP2, I
tried to delete the MSN Gaming Zone folder & files (~33MB). The files
would appear to delete with no error messages but would reappear within
a minute. My Add/Remove Programs control panel has no entries for MSN
Gaming Zone, Zone.com, or any variation thereof. The listing in the
sysoc.inf file does not include a HIDE parameter:
ZoneGames=zoneoc.dll,ZoneSetupProc,igames.inf,,7

Why do the files reappear and how can I completely uninstall them?

The MSN Gaming Zone folder does have some games which are part of Windows XP
and can be uninstalled (I think) with Add/Remove Windows Components,
Accessories & Utilities, Games. As for the stuff downloaded from
msn.zone.com, I would try disabling System Restore before deleting it and
enable it afterwards. Not sure if it will do the trick but is worth a try.

That is a protected system file and should not be deleted.
Do NOT attempt to delete something unless you know exactly what is and
why it is there.

It sounds like you need another hard drive.

Thanks. It was listed in that Windows Components section under Internet
Games. The uninstallation worked as expected, thereby answering the
second part of my question.

Do you also know the answer to the first part of the question: Why [did]
the files reappear?

If you are referring to sysoc.inf, I had no intention of deleting that
file. In trying to find an answer to my questions with a Google search,
I found a forum message saying it may be necessary to edit (not delete)
that file to remove the HIDE parameter that prevents some programs from
being listed in the Add/Remove Programs control panel. As Quietman
pointed out, I should have been looking in the Windows components
section of the control panel, where I found "Internet Games" and
successfully uninstalled it.

The HD is large enough. I just had to use Partition Magic to allocate
more space to the C: partition. SP2 then installed without a hitch and
seems to be functioning normally (so far).

Why would they include it in XP professional for businesses in the first
place then make a pain the a_ _ to remove it. What is the proper way to
remove off business systems?

The OS shouldn't have ANY games, or word processors, or fax applications, or
picture views, etc... built in.

When I install an OS, I expect the bare necessities required by the OS, and
then another separate process to run to install the add ins. If Microsoft
would do this the world would stop hating them.
