msmsgs process starts by itself all the time....

I've disabled automatic startup for Windows Messenger, but it seems that no
matter what I do, the service starts in the background. If I disable it in
the task manager, it will start again all by itself after a minute or so.

So in order to not be online all the time, and having people sending me
messages..., I've been forced to configure the firewall to block Windows
Messenger.

Any solution to this much appreciated!

Open "Windows Messenger" and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck:

"Run this program when Windows starts" and
"Allow this program to run in the background", then
click OK.

Hi Carey, thanks for replying.

That's the strange part...I've done exactly that (unchecked "Run this.." and
"Allow this..."). Still, Messenger starts all by itself, without me seing
it. And if I stop the service ( msmsgs ) in the Task Manager, it just starts
itself again after a little while.

I uninstalled Messenger using your remove script, reinstalled...and the
problem is still there.
