System Information opens but cannot display any(info)
I type msinfo32 in a command line as admin., and the program opens with the
error message:

Can't Collect Information

Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows
Management files may be moved or missing.

Need some astute aid asap, as this kind of thing drags me down. Everything
else on here seems fine.

Hello,

Please download the following file:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...d6-18d1-4d05-b11e-4c64192ae97d&displaylang=en

Once downloaded, run wmidiag.exe. This is a self-extracting file. Have it
extract to your desktop or some other familiar location.

From an elevated command prompt, browse to the location, and execute the
following command:

cscript wmidiag.vbs

This will take a long time to complete (average between 5-15 mins).

Once it completes, it should open a text file displaying a report. Please
reply back with the contents of this report.

Thanks,

Hello,

Did you run that command from an elevated (administrator) command prompt?
Please confirm that it was from an elevated command prompt (right click on
command prompt, and click run as administrator). If it wasn't, please re-run
the tool from an elevated command prompt and re-post.

Thanks,

Hello,

Are you running any security software that may be preventing access to this
information? (e.g. norton, mcafee, etc?) You may try disabling this software
temporarily and then seeing if the system information utility works.

Also, what edition of Windows Vista are you running (home, business,
ultimate)?

Please report back your findings.

Thanks,
