System Information

If I try to run Msinfo32.exe to get to system information I get a window
titled "System Information", then inside it states"Cannot collect
information..Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software.
Windows Management files may be moved or missing.

How can I restore these files to access this info.

I think this also affects System Restore also as that doesn't seem to work
either.

System is a IBM laptop with Windows XP pro.sp2. 450 mhz processor, 6 gig HD,
256 ram.

I don't have the XP system disk.
