From time to time my computer works extreemly slow.
I found that at this time msinfo32.exe is running and consuming 99% CPU.
Killing this process restored the normal work.
What is doing msinfo32.exe? why it is starting ? why it consumes so much
CPU? how to prevent this?

Hi Wojtek,

See if the "msinfo32.exe" process is loading at Windows startup. If so,
check the full path, and disable it. One of these startup managers can help.

FYI, the legitimate msinfo32.exe is present in the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo

to elaborate, there are several trojans out there that use the name
msinfo32.exe, to fool the user; make sure your startup entry points to the
legit guy, as Ramesh has noted. I see this a lot, the "offical sounding
name" fools many people. a good spyware scanner usually picks it up,
EVERYONE should use the free AdAware and SpyBot scanners. Good Luck.
