Matias Hohl

Hello all,
With Windows XP I have the problem, that MSInfo32.exe can only be started
one time. If I try to start it a second time nothing happens.

Can somebody help me to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Matias from Switzerland

Hello
I already tried this. It didn't work. I don't know why msinfo32.exe doesn't
work, but it's realy bad for me as administrator.

Please help me!!

I think I already tried all the fixes from the kellys-korner-xp-page.
But they didn't help. Neither the Help & Support Center nor the MSInfo32.exe
works.

I don't know what I have to do.

Greetings

And you checked the Boot.ini? Either way, good luck to you and post back
with your findings.

Yes, I checked the boot.ini too. But everything is ok in the boot.ini.
I realy don't know where to search for more information about msinfo32.exe
and we have 1'000 computers with this problem :-(

Thanx.

Hi Matias

All 1000 PCs have the same problem? How did you deploy XP to those PCs and how long after the deployment did the problem with msinfo32 start?

All PC were installed with a normal unattended setup. The problem with the
msinfo32 started after the first start of msinfo32 on each pc.
It's a local problem and we don't know were to find help.

I tried it with a batch written by myself. After this it worked, but the
help and support center was displayed in the wrong language.
The basic installation is english, but we installed the multi language pack.
And so we need that the help and support center is displayed in german.

Greetings
Matias

PS: sorry for my swiss english :-)

Hi Matias

I can understand your problem, but I have only installed XP via an unattended install in one language (only 437 PCs - and that was a bummer) but have never had to use any other language for Help & Support.

You can't have Help & Support in German if the underlying OS language is English. I hope that I have helped you. If not, please post back.

Hello
That I can't have Help & Support in german when the underlying OS language
is english is wrong. If the multi language pack is installed after the OS
the Help & Support can be displayed in the languages added by the MUI.

The first time I started Help & Support it was in german. But unfortunately
since I started MSInfo32.exe one time, I couln't open Help & Support (in
german) again.

But after running my batch I could open it in english. If I copy the file
pchdt_w3.cab containing the german files into the binaries folder, it is
displayed in german for all users. And some users use the english version of
the XP Gui and that's why this is not the right solution for me.

Hi Matias

If you want Help and Support in English - you will to have install an English version of XP onto a separate hard disk/partition - sorry. I am not an expert in MUI -you may like to direct your question to appropriate NG.
