MSIEXEC.exe - Ordinal Not Found

J

Jeff

I recently upgraded from ME to XP...then upgraded with
Service Pack 1a. Ever since I upgraded to Service Pack
1a, at times when I try to re-install software that
worked when I had ME in place (the two programs I am
having trouble with are SystemSuite5 from VCom and
Nero6), I get the following ERROR:

MSIEXEC.exe - Ordinal Not Found
"The ordinal 141 could not be located in the dynamic link
library msi.dll."

I have done a ton of searching online for possible
solutions, but none have worked to this point.

Among some of my attempts...
=========
This wouldn't work...Unregister then re-register
MsiExec.exe...

first typed...
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe /unregister
on command line...

then...
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe /REGSERVER
=========

This didn't work either...Disabling Windows Installer...

Open the Group Policy Editor by selecting Run from the
Start Menu, and typing gpedit.msc. (If the file is
missing, run mmc.exe instead. Then, select Add/Remove
Snap-in from the Console menu, click Add, and double-
click Group Policy. Click Finish, then Close, then Ok.)

Expand the following branches:
Local Computer Policy \ Computer Configuration \
Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Windows
Installer

Double-click Disable Windows Installer to your right,
click Enabled, and choose Always from the list. Click Ok
when you're done.

If anyone has any suggestions, please email post here and
email to me at: baltimore_mba AT yahoo DOT com.
Thanks,
Jeff
