MSIE Causes Memory read error on close

I posted this last week and now can not find the
original. Someone mentioned running memtest, which I did
and there are no problems with my hardware.

Every time I shut down MSIE, I get an error that a
specific memory address could not be "read". I am
noticing some real performance issues now and I believe
it is something to do with the same memory read problem.

Any other suggestions?

Seems like you might have a borderline RAM module. The only other thing that I
can think of is if the machine was installed in the acpi hal layer instead of
the apm hal layer (this would apply to machines that are barely meeting the
minimum specs or have a bios that's older than 2002). The apm hal layer can be
installed without reinstalling windows, but it wouldn't be as reliable/stable.
Does the system event viewer show any hardware errors by any chance?
