MSI Keeps running

I recently installed a shareware program on my Windows 2000 machine
that used Windows Installer to install. I restarted afterwards and
all was fine. When I finshed using the product I uninstalled it,
again all seemed fine. Then begining with the next reboot MSI keeps
trying to run. On startup it will attempt to re-install the
anti-virus software, any MS Office XP app. Also anytime I right-click
on a local or network drive MSI tries to install Easy CD creator. If
I click the cancel button the apps run fine. I have scanned for
viruses and adware/spyware. I have check the registry "Run" keys. I
do not want to re-load this PC if it can be helped.

Thanks,
MJB

Hi,

Did you work this one out? I have exactly the same problem
but I am struggling to sort it out.

Andy.

I have run into this same problem where the uninstall
routine failed and everytime I reboot this Win 2000 PC it
tries to re-install the package twice. I managed to get
rid of one instance by re-installing the software then
using a utility supplied by the vendor to remove it. The
second instance is more perplexing as I tried the same
process and it didn't work. I've looked in the registry as
well and found instances and removed it. I found instances
of the install under Doc's and Settings\...\Installer and
removed it as well but no luck. Very frustrating

Add me to this list. Window Installer continously tries
to install programs and asks for associated CD_ROM disks.
I can't run computer unless in Safe Mode. Someone please
help.
