This makes an error report come up and IE closes down, problem has been around for a week but now has got worse. Is it an IE problem, PC problem??

Am downloading updates in case this helps?
Was thinking of changing from IE6 but to what??

should i change

OS is Win XP Home, IE is IE6
All service packs & updates installed but when i try to go to different pages i get the error message that Internet Explorer must shut down. Would it be easier to use something more stable as my browser instead, what about firefox? or a similar product. Any thoughts??

Sorry went out shopping ... needed milk for me coffee. :p

I ain't sure at this stage what is wrong ... if this was IE5, I would be telling you to update it.

You can try FF, no harm as FF does not use any IE code an is true to HTML format at least it will offer better safety.

Is that the FULL error message ?

I'd go with FireFox too, but it may be an IE addin causing the problem. Under Tools > Manage addons, do you have many things listed in that box?

Adobe, Norton, Shockwave, Spybot, SSV Helper, Sun Java & Windows Messenger.
Presume all these can be reloaded if needed
If it's more reliable to switch i will.
I went shopping but only cos IE was peeing me off so much:eek:

Sorry IE just crashed again, keeps taking out the broadband connection.
Dont fancy watching telly tonight so may instal firefox, is it easy??

SSV Helper? No idea what that is - might be worth disabling it and seeing what effect it has?

monitor things

Have disabled SSV Helper. Think the best thing to do is monitor it more and see if whats been done works, if not can always try firefox at a later day. Are their any threads all ready posted about Firefox?

Oh and thanks for help guy's:thumb: I really hate working on my own PC:eek:

This is really odd, I've had this about 10 times since replying to this!

I wonder if there is an exploit out for IE? Jumping to FireFox for now!

Update: Have emailed Microsoft about the problem, but would reall like to get to the bottom of it, could use system restore and roll back the date to the LKG?

Not sure what to do any more ideas??
