MSFax printing under TS

J

James Graham

I am having problems using the local MSFax printer on my local PC (XP Pro
SP1 and related patches) while attached to a TS (Windows Server 2003
Standard and related patches).

The error message I get on the local PC Event Viewer is:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 61
Date: 1/26/2004
Time: 3:34:02 PM
User: SURITYNET\FDemo
Computer: TEST01
Description:
The document Remote Desktop Redirected Printer Doc owned by FDemo failed to
print. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 63 (0x3f).

The message in the TS Event Viewer is:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10
Date: 1/26/2004
Time: 3:34:03 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: TERM01
Description:
Document 134, TestFax.txt - Notepad owned by Fdemo was printed on Fax (from
TEST01) in session 3 via port TS009. Size in bytes: 1506; pages printed: 1

The XP Help and Support Center's suggestion to stop and restart the spooler
dose not fix this issue. I have also been unable to find any TechNet
articles that deal with Faxing while connected to a TS.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Hi James,

I want to know whether you are using the FAX Service integrated with the
Windows XP.

If yes, it's not supported to be re-directed in the Remote Desktop.

As my test, the printer (Fax) will not the re-directed in the Remote
Desktop session. And, it also can't be shared.

If you want to use the Fax as the printer in the Terminal session, you can
configure the Fax on the Windows 2003 server. Then, configure it with the
proper permissions to the users. This is the workaround.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!

Sincerely,

Steven Liu [MSFT]
