I have unchecked some items in the msconfig start up tab, the likes of
winzip, real player, quicktime, etc, however I was wondering if there is a
way of removing them from this section so that they will not be available to
be checked off again.
Thanks
Peter

Most welcome. For manual instruction:

To Remove Entries:

These values are stored in the Registry. Go to Start/Run/Regedit to access
these keys and values to delete/remove them:

For items that were in the Start menu, Programs, Startup folder:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder.
You'll find a subkey for each disabled item.

For items loaded from the Registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg.
Again, you'll find a subkey for each disabled item.

Your last post is what I was looking for, I did check out the site, very
useful, thank you, but this one was what I was looking for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder.
Thank you very much

/Mea culpa/. To me, your post implied that the items were being re-enabled
at the next boot after you'd disabled them. Kelly's CrystalBall was working
better than mine, I guess.
