How can I remove Items that are in the msconfig, such as a program that
was on the computer, and was removed but still show up in msconfig. I
removed a program and it still shows up. I have several things "hanging
around" on it that I would like to remove.
Can anybody help???

Edit the registry: Start | Run | regedit | Ok. Those items in msconfig
that have been unchecked can be found in one of these three keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
In the right pane delete the value for the item in question. It 's best to
export a copy of the key you change before making the changes via File |
Export, in case there is a problem.
Instead of editing the registry manually Kelly has an edit on her site that
will automatically removed these unchecked items for you.

It's a good idea to use a tool like ERUNT to regularly make a copy of the
registry which can be restored through the recovery console is problem
occurs.
