MSCONFIG SYSTEM STARTUP

J

JASMINEGEORGE

is there a way to get into msconfig and change start up items & services
without going past the password menu like go through MSDOS or something'? Or
some kind of prompt from when I first start the computer up to edit what
starts up and what doesnt. I stupidly changed something in the msconfig start
up items and services items and now I can't go through to the welcome menu

PLEASE NOTE I CANNOT GET IN IN SAFE MODE EITHER I NEED TO GET IN THE BACK DOOR

Hi,

First, there is no "back door" in modern operating systems. It's not like
Win9x with its underlying DOS layer that would allow you access to system
files. To work on an NT system, even from a command prompt, you need to be
able to logon to the installation.

That said, have you tried booting to the non-GUI command prompt? Or using
the Last Known Good Configuration? Both can be accessed by hitting F8 at the
initial boot immediately after the system POST and before Vista begins to
load. The command line will allow you to load msconfig or system restore
(rstrui.exe), and the LKGC will allow you to revert to the state of the
system the last time you successfully logged on.
