I downloaded a shareware website program which added
it's .exe program in the subject. I have removed all the
downloads with the add/remove yet this line item remains
in the list of startup programs. If I check the program
in the MSCONFIG Startup Tab, it causes a boot
program "Wise Update Client could not be located....".
How does a line item listed in the Start Up Tab get
deleted/erased?

Greetings --

Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Start Up and C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start
Menu\Programs\Start Up folders, and in the system registry, primarily
in the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

Look at the Location indicated in the MSConfig line. Leave the item
checked.

If it is HKLM or HKCU then run regedit.exe and delete from the right
pane at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
respectively

If it is Startup or Common Startup, right click the Start Button and
take Open or Open All Users respectively; then open the Programs -
Startup folders in the window and delete the shortcut from there
