msconfig & Adminsitrator

In a telecon with Canon to uninstall drivers for a multi-function machine,
after other steps, I was instructed to:
1. Go to msconfig, click on "Selective Setup", remove the check in front of
"Load Startup Items", then
2. Select the "Services" tab, click on "Hide All Microsoft Services" to
insert a checkmark, then click on "Disable All", next
3. Click on "Apply"
A dialog appeared entitled "System Configuration" stating "An Access Denied
error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log
on using an Administrator account to make the specified changes."
I am the Administrator and the only user of this machine.
I attempted to setup another Administrator account but got the same results.
An quidance would be sincerely appreciated.

Disable the services one by one until you find the one that is giving the
access denied message.
Try stopping the service using services.msc** and select disabled in the
startup type.
Does it still deny access?

Let us know the name of the service and the path to executable.

**
Type "services.msc" in the run box

Thanks, Mark...

Before I was able to access your suggestion, by intuition I was able to
solve my problem.

Some firewalls, antivirus programs, etc. can refuse to relinquish control.
I removed ZoneAlarm Security Suite which removed the culprit, TrueVector
Internet Monitor, and permitted me to proceeed without difficulty.

Again, Mark, thank you very much for your contribution.

Regards,
Edward
