Hi Van, this error must be intermittant. I've run Access 97 databases on my
3.1 GHz Dual Core Pentium with 2 GB of Ram, every day for almost a year now,
and have never gotten that error. I've also run an Access 97 database,
unconverted, in Access 2002 on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server machine with 2
Xeon 3.0 GHz processors and 4 GB of memory for a few months without
problems.

Most of the memory problems I see on later model machines are caused by AV
software making constant reads as the data moves back and forth.

You most likely have patched your Access 97 with JET 3.51 ... while the O.P.
probably still has JET 3.5, especially if he installed A97 unpatched.

I think we used to get a lot of question about this when people started
using PCs with 1 GB of RAM a few years back.

But yes, AV software is quite another possibility ...

when desktops started having 512 ram is when it became cheap enough to
have a database server that ALL DEVELOPMENT should be done in Access
Data Projects.

Access MDB can't leverage RAM.
