In the Advanced tools under the IE settings, it does not
read what the registry has in it. I find this is almost
a form of spyware because it "hijacks" my settings that I
have placed in the registry myself. Does MSAB have
internals that are set in stone? AdAware will read the
registry and then you can set THOSE settings as the
default settings. I almost do not want to have this
program except for the fact that it has proven very
useful. Does anyone expect this type of unwanted
hijacking to occur? I want all my registry setting set
for Yahoo! due to the fact that the MSN search and other
pages are severely lacking in any ingennuity and
creativity. I find that Yahoo! provides a better results
than MSN, even GOOGLE is better with its myriad results.
I just want MSAB to read what I have set and not to use
the PROGRAMMERS SUGGESTED DEFAULTS.

The defaults used by MSAS are the same as the defaults shipped with Windows.
The registry is not consulted because it can be hijacked by malware, and the
purpose of this feature of MSAS is to undo the damage done by browser
hijacking. MSAS maintains its own set of restore settings (not inside the
registry), which you can edit.

Does anyone expect this type of unwanted
hijacking to occur?

There is no unwated hijacking. MSAS never changes the browser registry
settings unless you consent to it.

You should use the facilities of MSAS to define your desired browser
settings (Tools, Advanced Tools, Browser Hijack Settings Restore, Change
restore setting to a new URL). You should not be writing to the registry
yourself. If you write to the registry behind MSAS's back, it will treat
your settings as an attempted hijack, and ask you whether you wish to
restore the default settings.
