MS03-040 possible bug

This is a possible bug in regards to this latest IE patch
and Acrobat Reader 6.0 installed on the same machine.

Situation:
Windows XP SP1 with Acrobat Reader 6.0 installed. All
patches and updates except for the MS03-040 have been
installed. Everything works fine - I am able to open PDF
files through the browser from websites.

Installation of MS03-040 (828750) on machine

I am no longer able to open PDF files from the browser
window.

I uninstalled Acrobat Reader 6.0 and re-installed 5.0 - I
am able to open PDF files again. Reinstalled Acrobat
Reader 6.0 - I am no longer able to open PDF files.

Machines without the patch installed have no problems to
open PDF files. I uninstalled the patch but apparantly it
leaves something behind on the machine - AR 6.0 still
cannot open PDF files. Re-installed 5.0 - no problems. I
have 3 machines used for testing - all with the same
results.

Can someone verify this, please? Thanks.

I see the same symptoms. The PDF files do open eventually but it takes
ages to open them.

I did some further testing - I think it also depends on
which version of Acrobat (not Reader) has been used to
create the PDF file. I do not have Acrobat but ....
