MS Word XP Pro (2002) Need Help

For about the last two weeks Word will not let me change the margins. Also
it is stuck in Landscape view and when I go into Page Setup and try to change
to Portrait I get the following message:

"Increasing right margin causes last column to become too narrow in some
sections having unevenly spaced colums."

What columns? I'm in Word not Excel.

I've even put the CD in and did a repair but to no avail. I'm not able to
change margin width and everything prints out Landscape style.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and have a great day!!!

Does this occur in only one particular document? If yes, then
open the document, and click on Format | Columns | One | Apply
to: Whole document | OK. Even if "One" already appears to be
selected, click on it anyway.

Or does this occur in all new documents? If yes, then locate and
open your Normal.dot file as described in Method 1 in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm . Click
on Format | Columns | One | Apply to: Whole document | OK. Even
if "One" already appears to be selected, click on it anyway. Type
a character or two and delete what you just typed. Save the
Normal.dot file and close it.

Thank you for your reply!

It occures in all new documents. I did what you said (at least I think I did
). When I go into Page Setup it still shows Landscape and when I click on
Portrait it still gives me the same "Increasing right margin... message and
won't let me choose Portrait. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Thanks
again!!!
