Margins

For some reason I am trying to switch from landscape to portrait, and I get
the message "Increasing right margin causes last column to become too narrow
in some sections having unevenly spaced columns." Any suggestions? If I try
to change the margins I get the same message.

There is a bug in at least Word 97-2002 that causes trouble when you
change page margins or orientation. Beth Melton tracked it down. When
you use the Columns toolbar button to change the number of columns,
the "equal column widths" check box becomes unchecked, so column sizes
do not adjust automatically for orientation and margin changes. You
might think that "equal columns" would be moot if there is only one
column, but apparently it is necessary. You can fix the problem by
going to Format | Columns (not the toolbar columns button) and click
the appropriate preset for the number of columns desired. Even if it
already shows the correct number of columns, click it and verify that
"Equal column width" becomes checked.
