MS Word error

I keep getting the message "MS Word has encountered a problem and needs to
close". I am unable to use my transcription program that uses Word. How can
I fix the "problem"? I have XP.

Tried a "repair install" of WORD, or a reinstall? Place the WORD CD in
the drive...

You could repair the Word installation but as it keeps shutting down, the only way round it is to insert your Word/Office CD and follow the instructions on the screen. If you get a message to re-install then do it. You will need the serial of your Word/Office product so don't do it unless you have it on a piece of paper in front of you. Installing any M$ software is tedious and time consuming if you don't have all the nessary information in front of you. M$ thinks it has clamped down on pirates; Perhaps it is living in a cloud cuckoo land!! I am sorry to insult the indomitable cuckoo by comparing it with M$!!

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.
