Not A Valid Win32 Application Error

I cannot open MS Word attachments from my e-mail anymore without saving the
file to my hard drive & get the above error. I can still open MS Excel and
Adobe attachments.

MS Word works fine when I open the software & the attachment in the e-mail
shows the correct program association - it has the MS Word icon.

Is this a registry issue? How can it be fixed?

I apologize for that omission. I am using MSN mail service & software. The
Not A Valid Win32 Application error also exists if I double-click on a Word
file in Explorer. Again, the file has the correct software association - MS
Word icon. But if I open Word & then open the file from within Word, all
works well.

Hello,

Right-click the file in the desktop > Open With > highlight Microsoft Word >
check 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' > OK

Try again and see if the problem is still there
