MS redist

I have a laptop running XP Home edition.
After updating the software on a router, which went fine. Whenever I boot up
the desktop displays and going into an Installer mode window which is looking
for MS Redist. I cancel this as it cannot find anything to instal, and after
three times it tries to configure something and then say it must be done from
Setup.
My system is running all OK, but slow at startup due to the above.
What is looking for?
How can I stop this happening?

Thanks for the response.
Could not install UPHC software as received error message - The window
installer could not be accessed.........
Continued to install Wininstaller.reg & Wininstallerwindow.reg, went through
msiexec unregister and regserver.
Confirmed Registry item as C:\Windows\system32\Msiexec.exe /V is correct.
Tried to install UPHC software and this now worked OK.

On rebooting I still have the the installer attempts which read-

(Windows Installer) - preparing to install
(MSRedist) - Please wait while Windows configues MSRedist.
(Setup) ! - The MSI must be launched through setup.

Have solved one problem, which I did not know existed, but still have the
boot up problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
