Not sure it's called Photo Editor, but it's gone. I've used the same program
for eons, and not sure if it's from Word 2003, or XP Pro, or . . . but it's
GONE.

I had to run ComboFix, and HJT, et al when something was downloaded by
mistake (that infamous "great" AV), so wonder if . . . today, I started up
my Pentax and it just sat there after plugging it into the USB port. When I
went to My Computer, and opened the Drive, clicked on the photo folder I
wanted to edit, the photo opened in a full screen with what looked like an
old-fashioned editing program I used in the 90s!

When I click on a saved photo in My Pictures, there's no option to "Edit,"
or even on the right click.

I have my MS CDS, do I need to re-load something? I cannot find it on my
computer, but I know it's there some place - or did an Update removed it?

Using XP Pro, Word 2003, ZoomText, Dragon, Kurzweil 1000, auto updates, and
all security ON, and/or run daily.

Thank you.

Does that mean you found it or just recalled more accurately the
name of what it was you were searching for? *grin*

See if any of this might apply:

Wow - it's catching!
*plague*

Let's try that again.

Like - is any of its menu items still around?

SO SORRY - I'm "vision-impaired" as if it wasn't obvious can you remove

Yes, after re-installing Word 2003, however, now I have to click on an imp
and right click, "Edit" where before I merely clicked on a downloaded image,
and the MPM opened up automatically. darn.

if I recall you can select install or uninstall
ms office.

then there will be a menu with the options
to install or uninstall the programs that make
up the suite.

however, there is an "advanced" option or
"additional features"

where it will take you to another dialog window
that has the tools like document imaging,
scanning, etc.... that can be installed or
uninstalled.

look around for the picture manager
there installation there.

-----------------------

also, the "live" picture gallery is more
robust than picture manager and you
may find it better and easier than picture
manager.

------------------------

Incidentally. if you had picture manager
already installed,

it is unlikely it got uninstalled by itself.

try start > run > ois.exe

or look under your program files
for the file above.

how do I 'find' that, db?

That opened it up! However - it's an entirely different 'window' format the
my previous program - IOW, a lot of peripheral options (I think).

here is the link to photo gallery:

http://download.live.com/photogallery

however, it is part of a suite in which
there are modules you would unlikely want.

so be mindful of the options the setup
provides and only select / check the
option for the photo gallery only.

you likely will not want the live messenger,
parental controls, live mail, etc....

---------------------

if ois.exe proved fruitful then it means
simply that the shortcut got lost
in the myriad of shortcuts under the start
menu.

perhaps, you might want to create
a short cut on the desktop for that
executable.

-----------------------

lastly, you will be able to run both
the manager and the gallery on the
same computer.

so this can be helpful to in deciding
which is better for you and your
system of photographs and pics.

MS Photo Editor was last available with Office 2000. It is now called (changed to)
Microsoft Picture Manager and available through Office 2002,2003,2007

Right click on any image of the type (.jpg, .bmp. or whatever) that you want
to open in MPM when you double click on it, click open with, click choose
program, select the app you want (MPM), check the box 'always use this
program to open this type of file', click OK. Repeat for any other image
types you want.

My bad. That is definitely my mistake for including Office XP. Have not used it in a
while (quite a while) Thanks

Good gravy! There is was! Even the format I've always used, not the
distractive one I have 'found' lately.
However, in desperation, I downloaded the Live picture program only, so
perhaps that helped, or not.

Whatever, I'm overjoyed, and so is my screen reader program! ;0))

Thank you.

One down, another to go . . .

Having downloaded Windows Live, now I cannot read faxes I have sent
(internally from my computer). Something about tif not being present. I
remember setting that up eons ago, and have always been able to re-read any
fax I sent out, now - nothing but a loud BANG.

More over, when I go to pull up an .eml file I have Saved to Word, there is
NO Outlook Express option any more, only WINDOWS LIVE . . . I really
prefer to not have any communication program taking over my computer.

Advice?

click out, OE is still NOT an option!

fixed it - uninstalled all but Messenger and Windows Live Email - my OE
option is back on! Just not my fax viewing abiity! What on earth happened?
Wrong MS Updates?

Do as I suggested for MPM, right click on on any tif file, open with, etc.,
but select Windows Picture and Fax viewer as the app to always open with.
