microsoft photo editor

back in october some time I realized that my microsoft photo editor was gone.
I have been frustrated ever since. I am trying not to recover my pc totally
with my recovery dvd. around the same time I noticed microsoft word was
missing but it was easy to borrow a disc to redownload MS word. I have not
been able to find a MS photo editor copy to download. can anyone help, p.s.
does anyone know what could have caused it to disappear in the first place?
I have a sony vaio with microsoft xp home edition version 2002.

The MS Photo Editor comes with MS Office. Since you mention that Word is
gone, it apparently took Photo Editor with it. Reinstall Word and choose
Custom Install. Make sure you've checked Photo Editor to be installed.
