Hi,

I am running Windows XP and Office 2000.

And I suddely see in my C:\Program Files
"Office Update 11" next to "Office Update".

I never had whatever version of Office 11 on my machine.

Does anybody know how and/or from where that "Office Update 11" came onto my
puter ?

Thanks

Office 11 is the version sequence name for Office 2003. My guess is that you
visited the Office update site and the folder was added. However, that is
only a guess. If you do not a answer here try
microsoft.public.officeupdate group.

If the folder is empty, you can delete it. However, if my guess is correct,
it will likely come back.

Hi DMMi,
It is not empty, it contains about the same files as "Office Update".
I gonna delete the whole bunch (no harm done if it screws up something cause
i have an image of my C-drive handy).
But I still wonder how it got to my system !!

Hey,
I got it, I know how it got installed.
The latest Office 2000 Updates that I installed were the 2 following items:
-Word 2000 security patch KB830347
-Excel 2000 security patch KB830349
The Office Update 11 folder appears right after their installation.

It remains weird to me:
An Office 2003 folder gets installed after an Office 2000 update : hmmm
