Well every time it open it configures. No problem that it takes 5 mins
every time you wish to use it.

In keeping with the general MS product quality this is quite possibly the
most useless and irritating software I have ever seen.

Every office program does the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas.

MS feel free to jump in.

Very interesting. Skype was doing that to me every time I tried to start
it when I had useless Vista installed. Back to XP Pro and happy to be
running XP once again. Vista is not ready for prime time yet.

Features>MicrosoftOffice>Change, select Repair.

The piece of crap is uninstalled. But can anyone tell me why I would have
to repair something that was just installed????

I cannot see MS going any further with quality software that does not
install. Does not run. Does not....

Just fill in the blanks . I have been a MS developer for the last 15 years
and this currrent iteration of software is amazingly poor.

Running office 2007 with no problems and for two months. I did have the bcm
error but i found a patch for it. Do you have admin previledges for the
account you are using 0ffice 2007 in. If not try to add it to the power user
group.

Saw your other post about having problems running applications and getting
registry access errors.

I've been running Office 2007 on Vista Ultimate since it, well, both,
actually, were released. I've not seen either of the problems you mention. I
must admit that I don't recall if I ran the Office install with "run as
administrator", but I don't think so.

If this is a new PC recently purchased from a local store, then, yes, return
it. If not... did you install Vista yourself? Clean install or upgrade?
Which flavor of Vista?

Lloyd, I think you've given up too easily.

Also, you have decided to blame MS for writing crap software, when it is
surely obvious that this problem is almost certainly something to do with
your particular set up. Loads of people - including myself - are running
Office 2007 on Vista with no problems.

I feel sure this could be chased down.

If that is the case then I would appreciate some suggestions. I know that
it must work somewhere else and it does eventually work but spending 5 - 10
mins every time you wish to use it is rediculous.

If someone has a suggestion for how to fix this I would be interested.

Have you ran the diagnostics tool yet?

Click the Office button and select Resources. Click the Diagnose button and
let it run. Report the results here.

It's going back. Just installed OpenOffice. It installs, it works, no
flash but just what a word processor should do (or any other software for
that manner).

With Vista the operating system that won't play MP3's office products that
don't run, at least Visual Studio runs so I can make money. Otherwise the
last few years of MS offerings seem to be heading big time in the wrong
direction.
