Vista Mail with MS Office attachments

I'm using Vista with MS Office 2007, my problem is that MS Office
attachments in Vista Mail won't open from Vista Mail, the attachments
have a MS Office Icon such as a Word icon on the attachment.
This message appears when opening the file.
"The file does not appear to have a program associated with it, create an
association in the set associations control panel"
Note: The association has been set. If the attachments are saved to the
HDD\desktop then using the normal double click the files open in MS Office,
I've looked around Vista Mail\Tools\Options with no joy - are there any
Vista guru's out there that can help.

If the mail was sent from Outlook using Outlook's RTF format then Outlook
Express or Windows Mail will never find the attachment. Outlook Express and
Windows Mail do not understand Outlook's RTF format. Ask the Outlook user
to please use Plain Text, especially when sending attachments.
