To which newsgroup qualify best the questions regarding .NET passport,
using the web-based news reader, getting logged-in and -out ?

I have following problem.
The cookies and Java, Java Scripts are generally disabled in my browser.
If I wish some domain is allowed to set cookie / run Java,
I always have to create an exception rule.

What microsoft domains must to be allowed to set cookie / run java
I can without any problems log-in and out, submit new posts
to the microsoft newsgroups using web-based news reader (firefox as below) ?

Try using a newsreader instead of the web interface which is lousy. XP
comes with one, Outlook Express, or use any one of the other good free
and pay newsreaders. Here is a link for setting up OE to read
newsgroups: http://michaelstevenstech.com/outlookexpressnewreader.htm

Thank you for your hints.

I do prefer the web-based reader.
What about the required cookie permissions ?
Why is this so difficult ?

I just tried to set my Email client
to connect the nntp server msnews.microsoft.com.
No success: permission denied.

Hi Rook.

your proposal is interesting. I have already tried my Thunderbird us
newsreader.
But I have still some problems causing I cann't reach I want.

For example, I am not able to load this thread. I subscribed to
windows.public. windowsxp.general. Tb is loading the threads. But from 11.03
only a few threads are visible. I habe a button "Get next X news messages",
but only the more and more old
messages are loaded. Unsubscribing und subscribing does not help.
Tb starts loading older and more older messages.

Furthermore, with the nntp I am not able to look all messages
for occurance of wished string. Only the loaded messages can I search trough.

A NNTP client is good. But web-based reader has several advantages missing
in the nntp client.

I disagree with your last statement. You have a configuration issue in
TB.
