Per MS Article 823614 ....
1) Loaded the 6 diskettes to enter into Recovery Console
2) in command prompt TYPED...
CD C:\Windows\System32\Config
REN system system.old
COPY C:\Windows\Repair\system
3) AND the "system" file was NOT to be found
4) so used the "system.bak" file and now comes up a
message pertaining to:
"trying to update the password return status
indicates the value to update the password is not correct"
5) knowing this "...bak" file was not correct, have
reversed troubleshooting back to original..and again get...
"Windows could not start because the
C:\windows\system32\config\system file is missing or
corrupt"
Does anyone have another troubleshooting angle to this
article as the unit just will not boot?
thank you for your time
