MS AntiSpyware - Scan function has stopped working?

Hi,

I have been using MS AntiSpyware for a couple months now and it seems as
though after updating 2 days ago, my scan function no longer works.

Everything else works fine, however, when I hit the 'Scan Now' button, the
program changes to the "Scanning" screen, but the scan never actually starts
.... the program simply stops at the very first scan item (i.e., 'scanning
memory' or something like that). The program does not lock up, and I am able
to continue using it, it just doesn't seem to start the scan. It was working
fine up until this point and I have no AV or any other utilities running.
Windows XP Home SP2.

Anyone else get this problem?

Never heard of that one yet. I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling. In
Add/Remove Programs there's also a "change" option that gives you a chance
to upgrade, but I think I'd just uninstall and reinstall. For a really
clean install, uninstall and then go delete the Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware folder before you reinstall.

Opinions on this will vary.... :)

Thanks for the reply - that is exactly what I did and that fixed it...the
program no longer hangs at the scan screen and it starts up the scan as
normal.

JFYI, I used the "Update" feature in the Add/Remove CP. It simply
reinstalled the program files, however it didn't overwrite any cfg files as I
still had all my settings and updates after I launched it.

Thanks again, and keep this in mind if you ever come across someone else who
encounters this problem.
