Scooter,

Ports? As in TCP/IP Ports?
None as far as I know.

Ms-access is NOT a port, or socket type system. ms-access is a file share
system, and as such uses the standard windows file sharing mechanism.

So, what ports does Excel, or work use when you open a file on a shared
folder is not different then ms-access.

You might research how windows does file sharing..but that is a function of
the operating system, and is not under control, by ms-access, nor does
ms-access have any settings in this regards.

A file is a file is a file..and that is ALL that ms-access uses to function.

ms-access with a jet file share is thus a file based system. Ms-access does
not know, or care if that file is on your local hard disk, or anther
computer on the network. ms-access knows nothing different from opening a
file on your local hard disk..or one off of the computer down the hall..
