MPG (VCD format) to DVD

Using my Hauppauge card I successfully converted about 40 hours of VCR tapes
to MPG files (VCD format) which will burn nicely to CD-RW media and even
play on our DVD Player. These are teaching lectures I have given over the
years ... about a half hour each. I didn't realize at the time that I
should/could have converted to the DVD format and burn to a DVD-R disk.
Instead of being able to burn to a 'few' DVD, I must now burn to 'many',
'many' CD-RW's. Is there any way to covert these MPG files (VCD format) to a
MPG format that I can burn to some DVD disks?

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Purchase a DVD authoring program such as Ulead Movie Factory, Sonic MyDVD,
Nero Vision Express etc... there is a list with links on my website. Using
one of these programs will allow you to create a DVD menu pointing to each
of the clips on the DVD.

Thanks for the comeback. I have Ulead which came with the Hauppauge package.
Will try it again. Couldn't seem to make it work the first time.

Ulead Movie Factory is by far my favorite of all the authoring programs I
have tried (as everybody here knows :) )
Any problems post back for help. Others here use it as well.

I've never seen that error in all the DVD's I have burned.
It is an MPEG error which suggests the problem is after ulead converts
assuming you imported DV-AVI or WMV and not MPEG into the program.
So if it is a conversion problem it may be an installation problem with
Movie Factory.
The only thing I can say for certain is that Movie Factory will "normally"
import WMV and DV-AVI files without a problem.
Are you trying to import MPEG files from the CDRW disk or WMV/AVI files
created in Movie Maker?

Using my Hauppauge card I converted VCR tapes to MPG files (VCD format). I
then burned these to CD-RW media which will play on our DVD Player. I didn't
realize at the time that I should have gone to another format. So what I am
trying to use in the Ulead program is an MPG file. That won't work? What
must I do to the MPG file to use it in Ulead so as to burn to a DVD disks?
Thanks for any help

Using Ulead, I have tried to burn a number of my files to a DVD-R disk that
I have successfully burned to the CD-RW disk. I get the error ... All of
part of the audio data in the MPEG file is not compatible with this program.
Square one ... Again any help will be appreciated.

Hi....I usually like Movie Factory best too, just like Wojo. But I always
have a
backup since no program always handles things for me. I would suggest that
you try
AVS Video Converter....it has lots of features and you can find it at
download.com or at the home website of www.avsmedia.com
The price recently reduced and it costs $24.95. You should be able to
'import'
your cd file directly...click on to DVD on the top row of tabs....and then
choose how
you want to 'export' the file by choosing a burning format i.e. High
quality, Good quality, Standard quality, in NTSC or PAL, plus other choices.
The program will
'convert' your files (be patient), and then will run you thru a wizard to
burn it to a
DVD.

Yeah what dickmr said.
MPG files always seem to cause problems with Movie Factory which is why I
always work with AVI instead. Convert the files to AVI or better yet
recapture them if possible into AVI and then work with Movie Factory.
