MPG Playing

IE plays mpg's with the Quicktime plugin. I'd like to change that so that
media player plays them. Quicktime is uninstalled but I kept the plugins in
IE's plugins directory. In the Quicktime directory all that remains are the
plugins. I temporarily put all the plugins from each directory in the
recycle bin but IE still plays mpg's with Quicktime. I'd like to have IE
play only Quicktime fornats like .mov with Quicktime. All formats native to
IE should be played with media player. I'm using a fully patched IE6 and
Windows 98SE.

Make Windows Media Player the default application for playing the file types
you want.

It is the default player for mpg's. That's not the problem. It's the
browser plugin. Got any other ideas?

Just guessing here but what about the option to play clips outside of IE?

I think you hit on something there. Fiddling around with the media bar and
those settings got IE to ask to play an mpg in the media bar which is good.
However, I have to upgrade mp from 6.4 to 7 for the media bar to work. So I
think that's the real problem. Thanks.
