Quicktime Plugin Freezes When Paused

I can play Quicktime movie files (.mov) but if I click pause or click the
slider to advance or rewind, IE freezes and "not responding" occurs when I
end the task.

My system: XP Pro, IE7, Quicktime 7
Latest updates applied to windows and IE.

This does not happen with Opera or Firefox 2.
This did happen with IE6 before I updated and it did happen with with
Quicktime 6 before I updtaed.

I take it you can play .mov files with QT okay outside the browser window
(the video is embedded in IE)?

Troubleshooting an unexpected quit or restart of Windows, iTunes, or
QuickTime

Specifically, make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound and video
cards from their respective manufacturer's web sites.

If no joy, totally uninstall/reinstall QuickTime. After using Add/remove
see the "Completely Remove iTunes and QuickTime" section of this article to
make sure it's all gone:

QTPlugin.ocx file that IE uses when rendering in QT files in IE's window.

Jon, Yes, that is correct and to clarify, they will play in IE as long as I
don't pause or use the slider which cause IE to freeze.

To further clarify: Firefox, Opera and the stand alone QT (outside any
browser) all work fine and do not have this problem. My XP (SP2) system is up
to date per MS update.
