MPG (MPEG) EDITOR

Kata Plasme

Hi all,
Anyone knows where I can find an EDITOR for mpg, mpeg
Any info welcome and thanks.
John.

PS: I found MovieXzone but it is not longer a freeware and to download
it one have to give Visa Card information BEFORE the download.
A .30 day (or less) trial will be ok too as it is for use only one
time for 3 mpg small movies.

VirtualDub is the best:

Very easy to use. Took me less than 5 minutes to learn how to use it.
You can only save as an avi but you can edit mpgs.

An mpeg editor is a program that can save the edited mpeg file in the
mpeg format. VirtualDub is not an mpeg editor.

You are quite correct, however mpeg movies are really a "finished
product" format.

Virtula Dub can do all the editing, and save it in an avi file
generally smaller than the original mpeg file.

If you are adamant about storing everything in mpeg, then edit with
Virtual Dub and then convert to mpeg with TMPGEnc which is also
freeware. Your life will be easier with VDub & TMPGEnc. The latter is
also good for ripping the sound tracks from DVD movies.

I convert all my mpeg's into avi using divx mpeg4 fast motion or
divx5.05

Whatever I "am surely bound to lose", you probably would not
see/hear/notice other than a better movie, faster response times and
smaller file sizes which means more storage without working my CPU to
death just to play a movie.

I work with facts, not theories and I am always learning new stuff.

I stand corrected. :)

Why? You are surely bound to lose something in converting...

Well I don't know the official definition of "mpeg editor", if there
is one, but in my mind it means "able to edit mpeg videos", something
that VirtulaDub does.

Why call it an mpeg editor if you can't *save* your edited file in the
mpeg format? The file you're editing is just a temp file. The mpeg
file you opened for editing will have to be saved in the avi format,
therefore, no *mpeg* editing occurred.
